Adam Kovacs
Adam’s musical journey began in 1992 at the National Music School Piano Faculty, Hungary. Continuing his education at the Classical Percussion Faculty in ’95, he immersed himself in Afro-Cuban music, focusing particularly on the congas, bongos and timbales. By age 15 he was touring internationally with various bands.
In 2002 he began to engage with electronic music, creating percussion samples and grooves for DJs. Simultaneously he worked extensively as session musician, soon finding himself to be highly in demand, performing and recording with some of the newest generation of Latin bands in Budapest including “Fiesta” and “Cuba Ritmo”. He became a significant figure in the Latin music scene in Hungary, working also in other Salsa and Latin-jazz bands, and in numerous pop, jazz and flamenco groups. Notable credits include a full-length album for the Hungarian National Radio, and numerous live performances broadcast on RTL (one of the largest European TV channels). Recently he had the good fortune to work alongside such great musicians as the Brazilian guitarist and composer Felipe Coelho, and also Colombian percussionist Shango Dely.
In April 2008, Adam was offered a contract as a percussionist for an American show-band. He performed every night with international guest entertainers, and played various Broadway shows. Moving back to the UK in late 2008, he has found continued success in salsa and Latin-jazz bands. He has been on tour with the “Thriller Live” show since 2009. September.
